Blue Eyes

Within a 48 hour span I received two unsolicited, unrelated compliments regarding my eyes. One was from a woman with whom I was doing a play reading, and the other was from a woman in a restaurant sitting in a large group but right next to me as well. "You have beautiful eyes" the second woman said, "has anyone ever told you that?"

It should be noted that both women were easily past fifty-five, and also the light was situated in such a way as to show them off to full advantage. And, truth be told, they are remarkable eyes when not bloodshot from fatigue or hangovers. But you gotta get what you can in this world, don't you?

Flew to Cleveland yesterday, noticed a bulge in the sidewall of the front tire of the Volvo as I was checking the pressure just before hopping onto the freeway for the trip back to NYC. Went to Firestone. Long story short, four new tires which should be much better in the Cleveland snow than before AND an inevitable blow-out averted.

I swoop in, I plunk down cash, I save the day, AND I have beautiful eyes!

Happy Clients

Most of the time manual labor sucks. Occasionally there are the new challenges that get your juices flowing, but for the most part it's lift and cut, screw and glue, on and on, rinse and repeat. Then every now and again, when your labor is done, you get this...

Dear Dennis,

The apartment is stunning. Stunning. I can't thank you enough for your attention to detail. I can't believe how well the tub and shower cleaned up...Brilliant idea about taking out the pipe. The transom is awesome. My only regret is that I didn't do this ages ago! But, no, the timing has been excellent. Thank you, thank you!!!

...and, well, you feel like you made someone happy.
